The Bottom of my Suitcase

London. Mamma Mia. Overnight cruise. Apartment. The last few days have been awesome! London was amazing. I can't wait to go back! It was very refreshing to visit a place where they speak English!

THE BOTTOM OF MY SUITCASE - I had forgotten what it even looked like. I've been living out of a suitcase for the past month. But today Jaewoo and I (Jaewoo is from my school who is also working in Amsterdam at an architecture firm this fall) moved into an apartment!!!!! It's a pretty sweet apartment. If anyone would like to come visit, let me know. Friends are more than welcome to come over! For most, the trip would only be a short 8 hour flight across the ocean ;)

Living room - with PIANO... Oh yea...

Kitchen...

Bedroom :) That's my blue suitcase on the left. This was before unpacking.

So happy to finally be settled!!! And I went grocery shopping for the first time since I've been here. I now have a kitchen to cook in! This makes me happy.

Got work tomorrow morning so I'll be off to bed now... I can say I think I will sleep well tonight!

A little bit of Britain

London for the weekend!! As soon as I secured my internship in Amsterdam (back in June) I did two things right away: bought tickets to Mamma Mia in London for September, and tickets to the 2010 Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam for October. This weekend was Adrienne and my adventure to London. We sailed to England on the Stena Britannica ship (check out the website here)

Journey to London from Amsterdam started on a train to Den Haag...

...where I met up with Adrienne and then we took a train to Hoek van Holland port...

...to board our mini cruise to England...

...we don't pack all that light, unlike someone we met on the train who was in Europe for 3 weeks and had a bag smaller than the average backpack - CRAZY...

...in our cabin READY TO SAIL!!!

Looking out from the deck, about to leave Holland.

We fell asleep in Holland and woke up in England (bright and early at 6:00am)

WELCOME TO LONDON!

Everybody drives on the left side in Britain. As a pedestrian that may not seem like it would make a difference. However it is a huge deal when you have to cross the road. I always look the wrong way. Luckily, the British people are kind enough to TELL YOU where to look before crossing the street!

My heart started beating twice as fast when I saw this sign. Mamma Mia, here we go again, my my how could I resist ya... yes I've been broken hearted... blue since the day we parted, why why, did I ever let you go... I LOVE ABBA and I LOVE MAMMA MIA! The show was amazing. It gave me the shivers. I've now seen it 9 times. But this was the first time in London!

Adrienne and I treated ourselves to ribs at Mermaids Tail after Mamma Mia!

London is amazing. Really there's no other way to describe it. It's gorgeous. Tomorrow will be another adventurous day around London then it's back to the ship is sail back to The Netherlands =) Let me tell you, our cabin on the cruise across the English Channel and our super classy hotel room have definitely been an upgrade from the hostel =)

3 week mark

It was 3 weeks ago today that I left Canada. Time sure has flown by fast.

They always say 21 days is an important amount of time. You can make or break a habit in 21 days. These past 21 days have been full of new experiences for me. Lots of great moments, all new experiences, meeting new people - a few frustrating moments. But all in all, I am enjoying my time in Amsterdam so much. I am so happy to be here. Amsterdam is so different than Canada in so many ways. The culture is different for sure, but one thing that sticks out the most for me are the canals and water everywhere you go in the city. Walking around in the city is so enjoyable =)

High five to whoever invented skype!

Josiah's getting so big =)

Bonjour Laura. Haha, this was my tour of Paris from Laura's window. SOON I will see it in person.

And of course skyping home is always special. I miss her <3

Just under 3 months from now I will be home and will get to see all these special people again. But until then I've got a lot of learning, exploring and venturing to do. Tomorrow I'm off to England with Adrienne. It's going to be awesome =)
